After extensive research Roddy presented a Master’s Thesis for consideration to the University of Cambridge, in Cambridge, UK. It was accepted and Roddy became the recipient of a scholarship as a Fellow of the Cambridge Overseas Society, an exclusive scholarship sponsored by the Prince of Wales.

While attending Cambridge, Roddy was a guest researcher at the . He corresponded with world-renown economists including a Nobel Prize winner while studying. Roddy received a Master’s from  in 2002 in Economics History.

Roddy began his career working in the financial services practice group at ., in Washington, D.C., responsible for handling assets and accounts worth over $1 billion.

The experience within a firm where he regularly worked on behalf of clients and attended meetings at The Federal Reserve firmly established Roddy’s interest in law and economics. Roddy decided that he would practice law and attended the University of Mississippi. He graduated from law school in 2007.

During law school Roddy clerked in the Special Prosecution Unit for the Florida State Attorney in Orlando and was dealing with appeals for capital offenses from 2005-06. He was a Certified Legal Intern with the State Attorney and was trying jury trials while still in law school.

He won his first case—involving reckless driving–in law school. In 2007, Roddy returned to Winter Park and began working with his father, Eric Lanigan on a case against .

“It was a pretty big decision… a really big case and my Dad needed my help,” Roddy said. “We stuck it out and won and then it led to and developed into me staying in the practice with him.”

In 2007, Roddy became the first lawyer in America to litigate against the. The PCAOB is a non-profit corporation established by Congress to oversee the audits of public companies in order to protect the interests of investors and further the public interest in the preparation of informative, accurate and independent audit reports. He won the case.
